London Daytrip

Big Ben and Parliament

On our final day before leaving for more tea-starved realms, we took the train from Ashtead into London (having eschewed the Paris-Chunnel idea as too much trouble). Visible here are the London Eye, Big Ben, Parliament, and (in the shadows) Elisabeth.

Jon on a big kitty

Elisabeth on big kitty

At Trafalgar Square, playing with the big kitties.

Pigeon's contribution to perpetuity

The pigeons are legendary, and know it. Carved statues of famous dead people cower in fear at their approach, to no avail.

Wading in the fountain

Elisabeth, unable to resist small tame bodies of water on hot (80-90 degrees!) days.

Nelson et al

Lord Horatio Nelson, some other statue, and a mighty pigeon in flight.

Long-sleeved shirt with union jack

At the London Tower gift shop, we found the perfect shirt for Jon's sister Joanna: a long sleeved shirt with the Union Jack on it, as we had been instructed to look for everywhere since we had arrived in England. So of course we didn't get it.
