Life on the boat

The group: professors, grad students, and undergrads. I'm somewhere in the middle.
We had very important work to do, which mainly involved looking at lots of pretty little flat screen displays.
Raytheon technicians took charge of the more important equipment, such as the seismic buoys.
There were swarms of flying fish that lept up in the wake of our boat, but the only one any of us was able to photograph was the one that leaped on board and died somewhere around the equator.
When we crossed the equator, those of us who hadn't crossed before had a little initiation. Being sprayed down by the firehose at the end was much better than the previous part...
