Saturday 9 September 2000: Up the Coast

Elisabeth: Woke up. Drove. Drove some more. I dragged Jon by every place I ever lived in my entire life, in addition to all the schools I ever went to (minus San Diego). I was also vindicated in my quest for the french fry place in Ventura; don't listen to Jon raving about how good the "chips" were.

Jon: Luckily, the chips were still warm, which is amazing considering how long it took us to find the place under Elisabeth's misguided notion that it would sell "french fries". At long last though we were on our way up the coast. We stopped at Schlotsky's Deli in San Luis Obispo for lunch, although we had really eaten nearly our fill of chips.

We then headed up the Coast Highway through Monterey, stopping to play with our digital camera, er, take pictures of the beautiful scenery. Dinner was very garlicky and sort of bad and every phone book on Fisheman's Wharf was missing the motel section.

Fisherman's wharf, of course, is a dump. The best part was hearing the seal cries coming from the animal food factory on an adjacent pier.

We decided to keep going and so passed up the cheap Motel 6, preferring to be gouged badly at an identical Motel 6 in San Jose ($94!).

Camden sure is a long street.
